This is an infrared panoramic image of Pittsburgh. The trees in the foreground, as well as much of the other foliage reflect a significant amount of infrared light and appear brighter than normal as a result. PNC Park (home of the Steelers) can be seen to the left of center and the downtown portion of Pittsburgh (known as the Golden Triangle) can be seen to the right. Pittsburgh is a photogenic city as many decades worth of excellent work by photographers both famous and less well known has shown. I’ve spent a number of years thinking about how to take on the city in-the-large while not repeating work that has already been well done by others. I began this series of infrared panoramic images in May of 2008 and am satisfied that they add to the visual language of Pittsburgh. Current images in this series also include; Across the Allegheny, Rowing the Allegheny No. 3, and Across the Mon. I have more locations scouted out and plan to add additional images as conditions allow. |
