If you read the text that accompanies the image Cottonwood and Clouds, you’ll learn the timing of my visit to White Sands National Monument in the spring of 2009 could have been better.  Regardless, I stayed overnight in the area and was back out on the dunes again the next morning without as much competition for a bit of privacy.  The colors at White Sands can, at times, be incredible but in this case it was the light that interested me and I chose to work in black and white infrared rather than in color.
